CDL Dump Truck Driver (Brooklyn)
Harris Water Main & Sewer Contractors, a trusted name in NYC since 1918, is looking for an experienced CDL Dump Truck Driver to join our team. As a non-union company, we pride ourselves on maintaining a high standard of work, and we’re seeking a driver who is fully capable of handling the 2021 Kenworth T880 Dump Truck (manual transmission), particularly when carrying heavy loads.
Note: It’s important to understand that not everyone with a CDL license can handle this specific truck, especially when it is loaded. Just because you have experience with a manual transmission, or a truck of this size does not mean you will be able to drive this truck properly when it’s fully loaded. The ability to manage the vehicle’s size and weight, particularly with heavy loads, is critical to prevent damage to the truck and ensure smooth operations.
Driver Responsibilities:
• Transport debris from job sites across the 5 Boroughs to local disposal sites
• Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Deliver clean fill to job sites for back-filling of roadways and sidewalks
• Operate a manual/standard transmission truck, ensuring proper handling, especially with heavy loads
• Transport steel roadway plates from our shop to job sites
Requirements:
• Proven experience driving large trucks, particularly manual transmissions like the 2021 Kenworth T880
• Ability to handle the truck with heavy loads to avoid damage to the Clutch Components (Clutch Plate, Pressure Plate, Release
Bearing, Flywheel and transmission gears)
• Ability to obtain required OSHA certifications
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
• Follow all safety protocols while on the construction site, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
We need a driver who can confidently operate the truck under varying conditions and safeguard the vehicle against damage. If you have the experience and skill to handle this type of equipment, we’d love to have you on board!
